LOCATION: HOUSTON

Located in downtown Houston in the Houston Center complex, the office plays a key role in the firm's international energy practice, particularly in Latin America. Established in 1992, the Houston office attorneys have counseled clients on projects in virtually every energy industry subsector, including oil and gas exploration and development, hydrocarbon purchase and sale agreements, LNG, power plants, refineries, substations, greenfield facilities, terminals, tankers, pipelines, transmission lines, and mining.

Curtis Houston-based attorneys are involved in cross-border and domestic transactions. Our clients include government entities, investor-owned and municipal utilities, co-ops, independent power producers, merchant generators, underwriters, investment banks, and lenders. The office's experience includes international project finance transactions, including refinery and electricity projects, energy-related joint ventures, crude oil sales and service agreements, cross-border natural gas sales, and transportation transactions. We also advise clients on matters of Mexican and commercial law. Our lawyers have made federal and state court appearances as expert witnesses in Mexican law. Other areas of experience include domestic corporate and commercial law. During 2007 and 2008, our attorneys in the Houston office were primarily responsible for the closing of domestic asset purchase and sale transactions having a value of approximately $2 billion.

Our Houston office attorneys are actively involved in energy-related shipping matters and work seamlessly with our teams in New York and Mexico. A majority of the attorneys are fluent in both English and Spanish, and the partners are admitted to practice in Texas and/or New York. The managing partner of the office also is admitted to practice in Mexico. Our attorneys in Houston are active in the Hispanic and Asian bar associations and hold director-level positions in these organizations.

The Houston office is a part of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, a New York limited liability partnership.  To ensure a consistently high level of service and the full benefit of our resources and global reach, Curtis utilizes an integrated team approach across offices and practices.
