Curtis Represented Gordon Brothers and Hilco in Closing Sports Chalet Locations
Curtis represented a joint venture comprised of Gordon Brothers Retail Partners and Hilco Merchant Resources (the “Joint Venture”) in connection with the Chapter 11 cases of Vestis Retail Group, LLC in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware before Judge Laurie S. Silverstein. At the time of its filing, Vestis was the parent company of 144 sporting goods and apparel stores and two distribution centers across 15 states operated under the Bob’s Stores, Eastern Mountain Sports, and Sport Chalet chains. Gordon Brothers and Hilco successfully acquired the right to conduct store closings of the entire Sports Chalet chain.
The Joint Venture conducted store closing sales at 47 Sports Chalet locations in California, Arizona and Nevada, offering discounts on over $130 million worth of famous brand sporting goods, athletic apparel and footwear, activewear and accessories. Curtis advised the Joint Venture in connection with obtaining entry of a final order from Judge Silverstein authorizing the continuation of store closing sales which had begun prior to the Chapter 11 cases.
The Curtis team was led by Partner Steven J. Reisman and Counsel Cindi M. Giglio from the Restructuring and Insolvency Department.
