Curtis Advised Lazard in Connection with Energy Future Holdings Chapter 11 Cases
Curtis acted as counsel to Lazard Ltd. in connection with its retention by various interested parties in the Chapter 11 cases of Energy Future Holdings Corp. (“EFH”). EFH and certain affiliates filed for Chapter 11 on April 29, 2016; those cases are pending in the District of Delaware before Judge Christopher J. Sontchi.
Curtis assisted Lazard with various issues related to their retention. Over the past decade, Lazard has advised on more than 500 restructurings worldwide, with an aggregate value of over $1 trillion, including many of the largest and most complex.
EFH was a Dallas-based, privately held energy company with a portfolio of competitive and regulated energy companies. Those businesses served the Texas electricity market, which is one of the world’s largest competitive markets.
The Curtis team was led by Restructuring and Insolvency Partners Steven J. Reisman and Cindi M. Giglio and Restructuring and Insolvency Litigation Partner Theresa A. Foudy.
