Curtis partners Antonio Prida and Gabriela Alvarez-Avila elected to leadership roles in key ICC Committees

Two Curtis partners have been elected to key ICC committees in the area of disputes resolution in Mexico.

  • Corporate partner Antonio Prida has been named Chair of ICC Mexico's Mediation Committee (link to announcement below).  The appointment recognizes Antonio’s depth of experience in advising domestic and international clients on doing business in Mexico, and resolving their commercial disputes without the need for judicial intervention.  Antonio also recently co-chaired the Global Pound Conference Series Mexico City on alternative dispute resolution. The appointment was announced on November 22, 2016.

  • International Arbitration partner Gabriela Alvarez-Avila has been elected President of the newly created Investment Arbitration Committee of the ICC Mexico’s Arbitration Commission.  The appointment reflects Curtis’ market-leading investor-state arbitration work.  Ms Alvarez-Avila is one of Latin America’s leading arbitration practitioners, recognised for her work as counsel for foreign states.  She has worked with the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, D.C., where she administered arbitrations as secretary of tribunals, hearing cases in English, Spanish and French. Her appointment was announced on November 25, 2016.
