Ms. Trahanas focuses on investor-state arbitration and public international law matters. She has been involved in proceedings under the rules of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), including proceedings related to the energy resources sector and construction sector involving states and state-owned entities.
Prior to joining Curtis, Ms. Trahanas worked at the Office of International Law within the Australian Attorney-General’s Department. She provided international law advice to the Australian government, worked on Australia’s first investment treaty arbitration and participated in a capacity building project assisting Pacific Island countries in finalizing their maritime boundaries. In addition, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable James Jacob Spigelman AC QC, Chief Justice of the State of New South Wales, Australia, and as law clerk to Justice John Basten, Judge of Appeal, Supreme Court of New South Wales. Her prior experience also includes providing legal advice to the government of New South Wales as a lawyer for the New South Wales Crown Solicitor’s Office and interning with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague.
