Partners Irene Petrelli and Antonio M. Prida recently participated in a roundtable discussion on mediation of investment disputes at the 67th Annual Congress of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) in Rome. This Congress was attended by the highest level officials of the Mexican Bar and of the most reputable lawyers associations in Mexico. The 2025 UIA Annual Congress will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico.
During the roundtable, among other topics, Irene Petrelli and Antonio Prida spoke about the benefits of mediating investments disputes, which include fostering and preserving the parties’ relationship, saving costs and time, and crafting a solution with both parties’ interests in mind. The roundtable was moderated by Catherine Peulvé, and also included the participation of Alain Fénéon from Paris and Aboubacar Fall from Senegal. The speakers concluded that mediation should be considered as an additional tool to arbitration to solve investment disputes.
