NEW YORK, February 27, 2009 — Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Hermann Ferré as partner in the Firm's New York office. He will focus on commercial litigation matters, with a particular focus on disputes involving parties operating in Latin America and the energy sector.
Ferré's arrival continues the Firm's steady growth in 2009. He is the second partner, and third senior lawyer overall, to join Curtis this month. Earlier in February, Corporate partner James Alford joined the Washington, D.C., office and counsel Maryann Gallagher was added to the Restructuring & Insolvency group in New York.
Prior to joining Curtis, Ferré was a partner at Thelen, Reid & Priest LLP.
“Hermann is a skilled litigator and his arrival enhances our ability to serve international clients,” said Barry Kingham, co-chair of the Firm's Litigation group. “We are quite pleased to have him here.”
Ferré has deep experience in a variety of areas, but brings particular insight to international matters relating to the energy and construction sectors. He is well versed in all phases of civil litigation in federal and state courts, and has considerable alternative dispute resolution experience, handling international arbitrations under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the AAA and ICC Rules of International Arbitration. Ferré has also been active in several Caribbean and Latin American matters, including administrative and other proceedings in Puerto Rico representing former high-level government officials, and advises numerous Latin American clients with respect to their U.S. business transactions and legal needs.
Prior to practicing law, Ferré was an architect and managed construction projects for Los Angeles County. During that time, he helped establish the county's Energy Management Division, focusing on mechanical design and equipment upgrades and maintenance in order to attain better energy efficiency. He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.S. and M.Arch from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
“Curtis has a talented litigation group and a high profile in Latin America, providing a unique and exciting opportunity for me,” said Ferré. “I am happy to be part of the Firm, and look forward to playing an active role in its continued expansion.”
