Charles Howland Speaks on Legal Issues and Opportunities Associated with Renewable Energy Project Development Under The Inflation Reduction Act

Partner and Environmental Chair Charles Howland recently participated as a speaker for the “One Thousand Resilient Communities: An NREL Modeling Tools Solar and Microgrid Training Course,” sponsored by the Center for Strategic Policy Innovation and Arizona State University (ASU).

The eight week online training course was developed as part of a pilot project of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and ASU’s Laboratory for Energy And Power Solutions.

The course helps cities, counties, and non-governmental organizations build expertise to facilitate the development of community-based solar energy and energy resiliency/microgrid projects in the U.S. Mr. Howland spoke on the different federal and state legal regimes that regulate the electricity grid in the U.S., as well as various tax incentives for renewable energy projects under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

More information about the ongoing course offerings is available here.
