Curtis Promotes Sabine Schmidt to Partner in Frankfurt

Curtis is pleased to announce the elevation of Sabine Schmidt to partner in its Frankfurt office, effective February 1, 2025. Ms. Schmidt maintains a dual focus in dispute resolution and corporate advisory, representing domestic and international clients in state courts and arbitration proceedings.

Ms. Schmidt has comprehensive experience in corporate advisory, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and business restructuring. Her practice has a unique focus in transaction-related disputes, regularly leading complex arbitrations and dispute resolution matters arising from commercial and banking deals. Her arbitration practice spans both international commercial and investor-state arbitration under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS), and ad hoc arbitrations, where she has served both as counsel and arbitrator. She is also an accomplished litigator in German courts.

Her diverse disputes practice includes both domestic litigation before the German courts and international arbitration proceedings, including recent notable work with the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT), reflecting her versatility in specialized dispute resolution forums and breadth of practice. She regularly advises international clients on matters involving multiple jurisdictions, and domestic clients on cases involving emerging German case law and interpretations of civil procedure codes.

Curtis Frankfurt Managing Partner Marc V. Kramer commented: "Sabine has demonstrated excellence in her practice and has been an asset to clients and colleagues in Frankfurt and worldwide. Her promotion is well-deserved, and we very much look forward to her continued success and contributions."

Ms. Schmidt is admitted to practice in Germany and holds the title of Accredited Specialist in Commercial and Corporate Law (Fachanwältin für Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht) from the Frankfurt Bar Association. Trilingual in English, French and German, she holds a First State Exam in Law from the University of Bonn, Germany and a Second State Exam in Law from the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. She has been recognized in Best Lawyers in Germany each consecutive year since 2017.

This latest appointment upholds its tradition of promoting home grown talent from within and continues the firm's strategic expansion of its international offices. The promotion follows Curtis's recent partner elevations across its market-leading disputes practice, including new partners in Astana, Dubai, and London.
