Legal 500 UK Recognizes Curtis Practices and Attorneys in 2022 Edition

Curtis’ London team has been recognized in the latest Legal 500 UK 2022, which launched last week. The firm was recognized in the following areas:

Public International Law: The editorial recognizes Public International Law head, Charles Buderi and partner Luciana Ricart, saying that “Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP's London team is regularly sought out for its representation of sovereign nations in investor-state arbitrations.”

“They stand out for their unique expertise in exclusively representing sovereign states in high-stakes investor-state arbitrations. This exclusive service lives up to its reputation, as they provide their sovereign client with the highest level of expert advice and representation at all stages of the case. They are true leaders in a niche market of cases and deserving rank as such.”

International Arbitration: The Legal 500 editorial notes that “Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP's London office regularly acts for governments and state-owned entities in investor-state arbitrations. The team's principal figures are Charles Buderi, who works across the firm's London and Dubai offices; and Mark Handley, who has oil and gas, financial services, infrastructure, telecoms and media sector experience.”

Oil & Gas: The editorial notes that “The team advises state-owned entities on the development of nationally-significant projects across the upstream and downstream space in the Middle Eastern and African markets. Hammerson co-heads the team with Ryan Hansen, who is experienced in conducting licensing rounds and competitive tenders for oil and gas reserves, as well as negotiating production sharing agreements, licenses and joint operating agreements. Timi Balogun is an expert in project finance and infrastructure development, with a particular strength in upstream oil and gas projects, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa."

Private Funds

The London investment funds team was recognized for its core work, and the editorial noted that: “Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP advises investment managers and banks on formations, capital raising, and investment matters, alongside notable work with high-net-worth individuals acting as LPs and sovereign wealth funds. The team has a particular focus on private equity, and offers bespoke US expertise alongside its UK and EU capabilities. The team is led by US-qualified Bradley Doline and Thomas Laurer.”
