Counsel Lise Johnson will speak on a panel on “ISDS and criminal proceedings – is the system open to abuse?” at Global Arbitration Review’s GAR Live: BITs 2022 conference. The conference will take place on June 8, 2022 in London.

Ms. Johnson and her co-panelists will examine recent ISDS cases in which tribunals were called upon to engage with local criminal proceedings and will discuss the intersection of ISDS and criminal proceedings, the limits of arbitral tribunals’ powers in these types of cases, and how these cases may impact perceptions of ISDS as well as efforts to reform the system.
