Mr. Cassidy is an experienced commercial litigation and international arbitration lawyer. He is recognized by Thomson Reuters as a litigator in the top 5% of business trial lawyers in Houston. Mr. Cassidy frequently represents clients in the energy, oil and gas, and tech sectors, as well as corporations and high-net-worth individuals, in complex commercial disputes, including energy litigation, business litigation, international arbitration, construction, fraud, and white-collar defense.
Mr. Cassidy also has significant experience in international disputes. His international experience includes representing a pipeline joint venture in a multimillion-dollar International Chamber of Commerce arbitration heard in Mexico City; an oil-field-equipment distributor in a supply-chain and trade secret dispute in federal court and China’s Beijing Arbitration Commission; a technology company in a breach of partnership agreement and trade secret case in Texas federal and state courts while managing related litigation in Brazil; and white-collar investigations and defense centered on allegations of corruption, fraud, and money laundering.
Mr. Cassidy is a Fellow with the Chartered Institute for Arbitration and was selected to be an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association, International Center for Dispute Resolution.
In addition to civil litigation, Mr. Cassidy is recognized as one of the top white collar criminal defense attorneys in Texas. He represents clients in public corruption cases, financial crimes cases, and other white collar matters. He also represents companies and individuals subject to criminal and civil claims under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and False Claims Act. His white collar practice includes extensive experience with internal investigations for companies and representation of both companies and individuals before U.S. federal law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Cassidy represents companies in employment law matters, including international clients navigating U.S. employment law. He also represents select individuals in negotiating or disputing executive employment agreements, and he has significant trial experience related to disputes involving trade secrets, noncompetition agreements, and discrimination. He is highly experienced in qui tam litigation and has represented clients as lead counsel in federal court qui tam matters involving multi-million dollar claims.
A graduate of the prestigious Leadership Houston program, Mr. Cassidy has held leadership roles in numerous legal foundations and associations. He was elected by his peers to chair the Houston Bar Association’s oil and gas section in 2017-2018, has served as a committee member within the international law section of the State Bar of Texas, and was twice elected as the Chair of the International Law Section of the Houston Bar Association.
