Marc Hammerson is a senior corporate lawyer with deep experience in complex transactions in the energy and natural resources sectors. He represents investors, corporates and state-owned entities in a range of transactions including M&A, joint ventures, project finance and project development.
M&A, Projects and Corporate Law
Mr. Hammerson focuses his practice primarily on M&A, project development, corporate law and restructuring in the oil & gas and power industries. He has been particularly active advising private equity and hedge funds in these areas, recently across the full spectrum of M&A and financings relating to restructuring and insolvency.
Energy, Oil & Gas Expertise
Mr. Hammerson represents clients on all aspects of the oil & gas and power industries, his experience includes giving transactional advice on corporate, M&A, commercial agreements (such as gas sales agreements and power purchase agreements), project finance and restructuring.
One of the world’s leading energy lawyers (Who’s Who Legal, 2023 and previous editions), Mr. Hammerson has been recognized by ChambersUK 2024 and Legal 500 EMEA for many years for his experience in oil & gas, restructuring and for his work in Africa. He has been listed as an Overseas Expert for Nigeria by Chambers Global since 2020.
Mr. Hammerson has a wealth of experience in advising national oil companies and partially state-owned oil companies internationally, notably but not exclusively in emerging markets.
Corporate Counsel Experience
Mr. Hammerson also has in-house corporate experience gained on client secondment with Enron Corp and Toyota Tsusho, in addition to which he has advised public oil companies in the capacity of ‘external general counsel’.
