Maxime Chevalier is an international disputes lawyer, who has been part of legal teams that regularly represent sovereign states, state-owned entities and private clients before international tribunals.
Mr. Chevalier has worked under the arbitration rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
He also acquired experience assisting lawyers in commercial litigation before French courts, including the annulment and enforcement of arbitral awards.
Mr. Chevalier has been part of teams of lawyers representing clients in disputes pertaining to various industries, including oil and gas, construction, sales of goods and the banking sector. He is currently part of the team defending the interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in several multi-billion dollar contentious matters relating to oil and gas fields.
Prior to joining Curtis, Mr. Chevalier was a full-time Lecturer then an Assistant Professor in India at the Law School of O.P. Jindal Global University, where he taught Indian Contract Law, Indian Arbitration Law and International Trade Law. He also published in renowned academic journals.
A French national, he is a dual-qualified attorney in France and Mexico. Mr. Chevalier studied, taught and practiced law in both Civil law and Common law jurisdictions, namely France, Poland, Sweden, India and Mexico.
