Susana Echavarria Medina is an associate in the firm’s international corporate practice.
Prior to joining Curtis, Ms. Echavarria worked at a renowned boutique law firm in Bogotá, where she supported high-stakes government contracting proceedings and assisted in contractual disputes before the Administrative Jurisdiction and in arbitration proceedings, focusing on the transportation, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
Her professional background includes leading advocacy efforts at a Colombian NGO, where she advanced initiatives in freedom of expression, human rights in the digital age, and media law. She participated in strategic litigation before national and international courts and presented at international conferences on artificial intelligence regulation, net neutrality, and public access to information.
Ms. Echavarria graduated summa cum laude with a law degree and a minor in journalism from Universidad de los Andes. She was awarded the national “Best Legal Clinic Student” distinction for her contributions to a human rights legal clinic. She also pursued additional studies in journalism at the University of California, Berkeley, and served as editor-in-chief of El Uniandino, a student-led independent newspaper. Her academic achievements are complemented by research contributions in international trade, digital inclusion, and internet freedom.
