John Taishu Pitt is an associate within the firm’s International Trade group, who provides quantitative and legal research on U.S. trade in the Asia Pacific region. He is responsible for analyzing financial and accounting data for international trade cases, primarily in antidumping and countervailing duty investigations by the U.S. Department of Commerce. He also aids in safeguard and injury proceedings at the U.S. International Trade Commission and has participated in several U.S. court appeals.
Mr. Pitt assists with retaliatory and national security investigations impacting imports, including Section 301 tariffs, and Section 232 national security investigations.
Congressional Research and Writing
Prior to joining Curtis, Mr. Pitt served as a research associate for the Congressional Research Service (CRS), where he examined a broad range of economic and national security issues relating to East Asia, including the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement and the U.S.-Japan security alliance. Previously, he performed research on behalf of the Congressional Study Group on Japan, the American University Asian Studies Research Council, and the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). He is a widely published author of many articles on his area of expertise and regularly undertakes speaking engagements on the subject.
