An experienced senior attorney, Mr. Weinstein advises clients on antitrust and competition aspects of mergers and acquisitions, business conduct, intellectual property, and financial regulations. On the contentious side, he has represented clients in complex antitrust and regulatory litigation in private lawsuits and before various agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
Mr. Weinstein brings valuable policy and regulatory experience from his previous role as an attorney in the Legal Policy Section of the DOJ and counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the DOJ. At the DOJ, he counseled congressional staff, federal agencies and international regulators on competition and antitrust policy and pursued merger, non-merger, and criminal investigations and enforcement actions involving a range of markets, with particular emphasis on the financial services sector and intellectual property issues.
Prior to joining the DOJ, he was an attorney in private practice specializing in antitrust and regulatory litigation and was a law clerk to Chief Judge Edward R. Becker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
